Our 2020 rose order from Weeks Roses (Wasco, CA) ships next week! Ordering roses is something our manager Suzi and enjoy working on together. With catalog in hand, we’ve put the order together somewhat ceremoniously while hunched over cups of Bliss Tea from Temple. The result is a melding of each of our tastes. We try to include representatives all the color categories– red, yellow, white, pink, purple and bicolor. Then we go for a nice mix of old classics and modern varieties… and shrubs vs. climbers.
My weakness is for apricot/buff colored roses, so I’m super excited about the arrival of ‘Marilyn Monroe’, ‘Koko Loko’, ‘State of Grace’ (New!), ‘Just Joey’, and ‘Honey Dijon’. Flower arrangers are scooping up the buff colored roses. And what pairs so perfectly with a buff/apricot rose? A lavender rose. Think ‘Neptune’, ‘Twilight Zone’, ‘Love Song’, ‘Distant Drums’ or ‘Ebb Tide’.
We also carry a few fun novelty roses like ‘Ketchup and Mustard’, ‘George Burns’, ‘Frida Kahlo’, and ‘Rock and Roll’ because they are a party in a vase.
