New roses from Weeks Roses have arrived! This annual arrival is always exciting because it’s our largest rose shipment of the year. We will bring in a few roses here and there from other growers, but this is our main delivery of 2021 roses. Every year gives us an opportunity to reorder old favorites and to try a few new ones.

I’m partial to hybrid teas, floribundas and grandifloras. I love a good old English rose or species rose, but I’m still most partial to classic roses with large, high-centered buds and long, straight stems like those my late grandmother grew in her yard in the Arden area. Her collection included: Mister Lincoln, JFK, Sonia, and Peace. I’ve grown Mister Lincoln, and found some of my own faves in Medallion, Chicago Peace, Tiffany, Double Delight, and any finicky but oh, so beautiful and fragrant lavender rose I could get my hands on. Lately, my obsession is apricot/buff/amber colored roses.

Marilyn Monroe, Honey Dijon and Koko Loko are recent additions to my garden. I still need a good pink rose, and I’m eyeing All My Loving. Oh, let’s get real. I need them all… pink, red, white, bicolored, orange, apricot, lavender, purple, old, new, etc. When I worked at Relles Florist (way) back in the day… it was not uncommon for part of my paycheck to go to roses.

Here’s a link to all of our roses. Koko Loko is already sold out, but we have lots of other beauties. Check out Distant Drums! https://www.plantfoundry.com/store/ROSES-c47528184
